The officer's lucky escape has been captured on footage that shows police officers taking cover from a charging bull on the side of the road. Officers were responding to a livestock truck rollover along the New England Highway at Morven.
Footage shows the bull colliding into one officer, who was knocked into the ground and nearly trampled.
The video, from July 26 and now released by Qld Police, shows the officer receiving help from a fireman as the bull crosses the road.
Qld Police have credited their new Integrated Load Bearing Vest (ILBV) for protecting their officer from serious injury,
"Luckily, the officer was recently fitted with the new ILBV, which may have made all the difference when he was charged by the bull into the bulbar of a truck, before hitting the ground and being stomped on," Queensland Police said.
The injured officer said the bull attack was "pretty unexpected" and a "a bit of shock".
"Obviously the policing job is pretty diverse, you never know what you're going to get on a day-to-day basis," he said.
"I don't want to think about what might have happened had I not been wearing that vest, but let's just say I'm pretty glad I had it on."
"It's certainly done its job."
The ILBV combines ballistic and edged weapon technology.

Police began their state-wide roll out of the vest in January, 2023, to frontline officers across Queensland.
Acting senior sergeant Lisle Manthey said that the vests had already proven their capability in keeping officers safe.
"The officer charged by the bull was able to walk away from this incident because of the impeccable safety and capability of this vest.
"Without it, the officer could have suffered life-threatening injuries or worse".
