Police are warning visitors to steer clear of water activities after a whale carcass attracted hungry great white sharks to the South Australian coastline.

The carcass is floating off the east coast of Lincoln National Park near September Beach and prevailing winds are expected to push the carcass north into Spencer Gulf.

This comes days after a giant tiger shark was spotted off the coast of Western Australia's Mullaloo Beach.
Police have confirmed reports that a group of sharks have congregated for the feast.
The Port Lincoln area is known for great white sightings, with local tourism offering 'shark cage' diving experiences.
Swimmers and boaters are encouraged to avoid Carcase Rock, September Beach, Donington Beach, Fisherman Point, Surfleet Cove, McLaren Point and other beaches in the area as the carcass moves.
The National Parks and Wildlife Service is advising visitors to the area to avoid the water and rangers have installed temporary signage in the national park.
Rangers and fisheries officials are monitoring the movement of the carcass to provide updated information to swimmers and boaters in the area.
