Kempsey Adventist School to host Basketball NSW female Come and Try session

The program will run on Monday January 17 from 9-11am at Kempsey Adventist School.

This free girls-only session is aimed at new or returning basketballers that want to learn some new skills and have a fun morning making new friends for ages 6-15 years.

Monday's upcoming visit will be the second Basketball NSW program run in Kempsey in two months with Northern NSW development officer Cristi Juffermans hoping to see plenty of girls this time.

"I was shocked that not one girl attended the IBA camp we hosted in Kempsey last month, so I'm coming back to try and attract some girls into the sport," she said.

"It is completely free to attend, so I'm hoping we get some girls along to try it out."

The I AM A GIRL program is supported by the NSW Government's strategic focus on women and girls in sport through the #HerSportHerWay program and aims to create a platform to encourage females of all ages to play, referee, coach, officiate and administrate basketball. The program provides pathways and assists in the development of female role models.

The sessions give participants a taste of all the different aspects of basketball in a safe and supportive learning environment meant to inspire the next generation of female basketballers.
