I'd like to make a comment on some of the vile trolling that is happening to all candidates via Facebook at the moment while local government election campaigning is in full swing.

I am disgusted and disappointed at posts I'm reading on various pages personally attacking candidates.
These vile posts reflect the values of those who post them.
They are not constructive and they are not honest. In many cases they are defamatory.
My greatest disappointment in running for re-election is the personal attacks candidates are experiencing on social media platforms.
This is a sad reflection of a minority in the community who think it's okay to put others down in order to support their preferred candidates.
I'm genuinely saddened for all candidates who are experiencing this targeted malice.
We are better than this.
