Frederickton Public School donates gift packs to new mums at Kempsey District Hospital

The school donated 25 baby gift packs, which the students titled 'Welcome to the World Little Ones'. Each pack included a reading book, a range of baby clothes and toys.

"It was a fantastic opportunity to support local community and young families," principal Leanne Parker said.

"We heard about Good360 as a company that can supply things to schools and other areas, so I enrolled our school to be a recipient. We also put our name down to be a beneficiary from the Big W stocktake sale and our local manager picked us."

Good360 is a Sydney based company that matches products from companies that are no longer needed or have excess stock, to those who are able to utilise the products.

Through combining donations of toys, baby clothes and the book 'Guess How Much I Love You' by Sam McBratney, the students then helped create the gift packs.

Unfortunately the kids weren't able to deliver them due to COVID concerns, but Mrs Parker said they are receiving messages from new mothers.

"We have been so lucky, we have actually received a couple of phone calls from families saying thank you, and that they received the gift packs," Mrs Parker said.

A spokesperson for the hospital, Sharon Fuller, said the gift packs were much appreciated.

"We are very fortunate to live and work in such a supportive community," Mrs Fuller said.

"The gift packs are simply perfect, not only because of the contents but because they speak volumes of the kindness shown by the Frederickton school community.

"Our midwives want to thank the youngsters at Frederickton for supporting the Macleay's newest families."
