Amelia Wilson has been crowned the Macleay Sportsperson of the Month for June and received a $100 voucher to the Kempsey Macleay RSL Club restaurant for her efforts.

Amelia has been smashing it on the track this year, breaking various running records and competing at a state level.
Earlier in the year she competed at Region 1 Little Athletics state qualifying meet in Tamworth, for the 100m, 800m & 1500m 11 year old girls running events.
At the state qualifying meet at Tamworth on January 30 & 31, Amelia finished 1st in the 1500m, ran a PB and broke the regional record by two seconds.
She earned her place to compete in Little Athletics State Championships at SOPAC (Sydney Olympic Park Athletics Centre) on March 20 & 21, where she ended up with a 15th place.
She also qualified for the 800m at the meet in Tamworth placing second and beating her PB by 13 seconds.
She ended up placing 20th at the Little Athletics State Championships.
In March Amelia was selected for the Macleay Netball Primary Schools team.
In May she won her school cross country and went on to compete at the Lower North Coast Cross Country in Kempsey where she came second.
She progressed to the North Coast Regional Cross Country in Lismore in June, where she became the 11 year old girls North Coast Cross Country Champion, completing 3km 11:58, knocking 17 seconds off her PB.
She will race at the All Schools Cross Country State Championships at Eastern Creek on July 16.
In June she also was awarded the Aldavilla Primary School 11 year old girl athletics champion and will compete at the Macleay Athletics Carnival in August, where she hopes to progress to the Lower North Coast Athletics, then onto the North Coast Primary Athletics Championships in September and to the NSWPSSA Primary Athletics Championships in Sydney at SOPAC in October.

The Macleay Argus will determine the monthly and yearly winner of the award.
A sportsperson of the month will be decided upon in July 2021 with an additional voucher of $100 for the restaurant awarded to the winner.
