Statistics on the NSW Bureau of Crime Statistics and Research (BOSCAR) website have revealed that the Kempsey Local Government Area had 24 recorded robbery incidents in 2020, the highest rate in NSW.

One hundred and twenty of the 128 local government areas in NSW with were used to compile the data, and out of those 32 had no recorded instances of robbery.
In 2019, Kempsey was ranked seventh in the state, with 16 recorded instances of robbery, while 2018 saw 27, which was enough to take second place in the crime rankings.
There are 19 crimes listed on the NSW Bureau of Crime Statistics and Research (BOSCAR) website, and Kempsey is in the top 10 in seven of the other categories for 2020.
