Emergency services work to restock essential items for isolated communities

The Kempsey Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) confirmed that two semi-trailers of supplies were escorted into South West Rocks on Tuesday morning, while a third truck arrived into the town around lunchtime.

The supplies in these trucks has seen the restocking of supermarkets for locals.

Over 14 pallets of food supplies and other items, including medication supplies for the Crescent Head Pharmacy, were lifted by crane onto trucks on the Crescent Head Road overpass this morning which was then transferred to the town by vehicles and boats provided by the Crescent Head community.

Livestock fodder was also transferred for people with animals along Crescent Head Road.

Emergency services are continuing to assist a number of other smaller communities that are isolated with essential food items.

Crescent Head RFS Senior Deputy Jo Watts said the community coming together was incredible to see.

"Every post we've put out on Facebook have been met with donations by locals," she said.

"Whether that be tarps, boats or trucks, people just put their hand up to help out."

Supplies were brought to Crescent Head to stock the supermarket before orders placed by residents isolated on Crescent Head Road were sent by boat.

"The Pharmacy here and the FoodWorks have been incredible working with us to get these supplies out to people," Jo said.

"We can't thank them enough."

With further falls upriver in the Macleay River Catchment throughout today, the community of Crescent Head will likely be isolated for a number of days yet.

"The community is really supportive and just amazing in helping us organise this.

"We do remind locals to remain vigilant because we might be isolated for a few days yet."
