Footage from the air by Brett McGrath has revealed the true extent of flooding on the town of Smithtown with various residents confided to the upstairs areas of their houses.

Certain roads are visible throughout areas of Smithtown but as evident in photos, the majority are covered in flood water.
As per Kempsey Shire Council an hour ago, the Macleay River at Smithtown is currently peaking at around 4.1m with further rises possible.
Currently, South West Rocks, Jerseyville, Smithtown, Gladstone and Kinchela are currently NOT accessible via South West Rocks Road while Smithtown Road is also CLOSED.
The Riverview Hotel at Smithtown remains open.
"Depending on where they live some people are kayaking or walking to the pub," Smithtown resident Maureen Partridge said.
"Hopefully by the time the levels decrease the pub won't have run out of supplies otherwise that'll be the next problem."
Patrons at the Hotel said the pub has enough kegs to last a couple more days.
Mrs Partridge also added the level of water has reached eight inches at the bottom of her house since last night.
