A group of local women joined Kempsey Shire Mayor Liz Campbell to watch a virtual talk from inspirational woman Turia Pitt in celebration of NSW Women's Week on Wednesday.

It was an opportunity for local women to take time out from their busy schedules to be together.
Around 30 women from the community watched the virtual presentation before attending a networking event.
Mayor Campbell spoke of what being a woman means to her before the event got underway on Wednesday afternoon.
"I'm a Kempsey girl and although I have returned to the area four times throughout my life, this time I'm here to stay," she said.
"I am a daughter, sister, mother and wife and we are all here to celebrate what it means to us to be a woman."
Mayor Campbell was elected to council in 2008 and has been the Mayor of Kempsey Shire for almost 10 years. She spoke of the challenges she has faced as a woman.
"Being a male Mayor would be so much more simple, but I love being a woman and there are so many women who have inspired me throughout my life," she said.
"As women, we all have the opportunity to be what we want to be. We can bring so much to the table, we are great connectors and influencers."
Mayor Campbell also highlighted what International Women's Day means to her.
"The date has itself doesn't matter to me, but rather it's the reminder to celebrate your favourite women, be they leaders or achievers and to thank the amazing women in your life for all they do.
"International Women's Day is about gender equality and being inclusive."
