The 'Your Future Places and Spaces' was adopted at the September council meeting.
The strategy details the future vision for infrastructure across the shire, including libraries, community halls and open spaces such as parks, playgrounds and sporting facilities.
Councillor Sue McGinn spoke for the motion at the council meeting and said the strategy will help keep council informed about the communities needs.
"This Community Infrastructure Strategy refers to buildings and spaces owned by council. We know that there is a need for more facilities that cater to young people and this will aid us in being more informed when it comes to cultural infrastructure in the shire," she said.
"It's a high level strategy to help our aspirational needs and is well researched."
Two phases of engagement were undertaken by council during the public exhibition period of the draft plan.
During that time more than 600 people engaged via council's Your Say Macleay website and surveys and over 150 adults and school children took part in face-to-face workshops.
Overall, residents were supportive of the plan with no changes to the final draft.
The strategy sets a vision for the future and provides a road map to get there using four themes:
- A connected and inclusive community
- Beautiful spaces
- Healthy and active community
- Policy and planning
The plan can be viewed at council's engagement website Your Say Macleay or on council's website.
