Planning begins for Rovers season with Peters elected for a sixth term

In these unprecedented times and with an uncertain season ahead the club has gone on the front foot to prepare for another successful season.

President Carlos Peters was elected unopposed for his 6th term at the helm of the Club. It is his 19th year of serving on the Rovers executive, his dedication and passion for the club, certainly warranted his life membership in 2009. Peters also was recently elected unopposed as President of the Macleay Valley Cricket Association.

Colleen Hough and Andrew Bennett, were also elected unopposed as secretary and treasurer. With Bennett in charge of the finances for his 6th term, he will continue to improve the financial position of the club during his tenure and a new position was adopted during the meeting, with Dan Wade being elected as assistant treasurer.

New father Matt Scott, remains as vice president, with Jackson Korn serving in his first year on the executive in the new role of junior vice president.

During the meeting Peters stated despite the difficult times in 2019/20 season, through drought, bush-fires, rain and then COVID-19 he is proud of how the club has persevered.

"Rovers finished 2nd in Premier League, 2nd in A Grade, won Minor and Major premierships in 2nd grade, under 14s and Under 12s and the club was very competitive in other grades," he said.

"9 players from the Club represented at a higher level. Despite COVID we had an amazing presentation over the internet with over 100 members 'zooming in' to the live presentation."

Praise was also given to the Rovers committee especially the outstanding efforts and contributions of Danny Powick and Andrew Bennett who contribute to ensuring the club's continued success.

Huge contributions were also made by several members and our sponsors.

All sponsors especially the clubs major sponsor the West Kempsey Hotel have gone through difficult challenges and all members have been urged to support them all.

Rovers have several keen goals to achieve in 2020/21, whether players take the field or not.

Peters stressed the clubs focus during the meeting.

"Juniors are always the backbone of any club, they must be our main focus and we are committed to continuing to develop and educate our players," he explained.

"Rovers have had strong female involvement with players and the club would love for this to continue.

"The Premier League was close last year and the clubs aim is to go one better this year.

"However, no matter what happens, the club has always been a family club, and always will be.

"We strive to involve every family member to get involved in the club and in 2020/21 this will be even more evident.

"The club, executive, committee and players will be here to look after and assist all of our families in any way we can."
