Rangers make it two in a row in Coastal Premier League

The Sawtell side are said to be a strong team and for Rangers to score such a dominate win in front of the Scorpions home fans shows promising signs for the season ahead.

Rangers were reduced to 10 men in the 21st minute however the red card to Sam Applegate seemed to ignite the away side with the men in blue and white taking the lead on the 35 minute mark.

After half-time Rangers coach Chris Walker said the Scorpions came out strong and equalised but his side managed to find another gear to put on two goals, finishing the game with a 3-1 lead.

Brett Morn scored two with Chad Applegate slotting the other.

"It was a massive effort to play with 10 men for 70 minutes and limited preparation considering the structure of the season," Walker told the Argus.

"We had to withstand significant defensive pressure but held out pretty well - effort not ability is what got us across the line.

"To play that sort of match so early in the season and with such success is very promising."

Rangers are now equal first after the first two rounds with a mouth-watering top of the table clash against Coffs City United scheduled for this weekend at Optus Park.

Macleay Valley Rangers reserves will also play Coffs City United this Saturday and will be coming off an incredibly dominant display against Sawtell FC.

The Rangers controlled proceedings on Saturday afternoon to finish 13-1 victors.

The Macleay Valley Rangers club are really making a name for themselves and big scorelines with only last week the clubs women's side defeating Port FC 23-0 in a clinic performance.

Rangers reserves will face their toughest challenge yet this Saturday against United who are coming off a 2-0 win against Port United FC and 5-0 thrashing of Taree.

Kick off for reserves will be 1pm whilst first grade will be at 3pm.
