A RETURN to play for sporting clubs throughout the Macleay Valley grows nearer and nearer after the NSW government eased restrictions for training on June 11.

As of Saturday June 13, clubs are now permitted to train in groups of up to 20.

These clubs are required to have an approved COVID-19 safety plan in place to expand from groups of 10 to 20 for outdoor, non-contact training activities, maintaining physical distancing.
Amendment to the NSW Public Health Order comes in conjunction with the federal government allowing up to 10,000 people in some sports stadiums.
The lifting of restrictions on cultural and sporting events means that outdoor venues with a maximum capacity of 40,000 will be allowed up to 25% of their normal capacity.
These events must be ticketed and seated and follow strict guidelines.
Thursday's announcement follows on from the July 1 return to play date given to senior and junior sport.
Both Macleay Netball and Mid North Coast Rugby Union have set proposed season start dates of July 18.
Group Three rugby league won't be going ahead this year, however the Macleay Valley Mustangs are hoping to join Group Two, with that decision expected to be reached this week.
Kempsey Saints and Macleay Valley Rangers are one of a few clubs that have started training whilst the Macleay Valley Eagles AFL Club have signalled their intention to start training this Wednesday.
