The Mid North Coast Rural Crime Prevention Team (RCPT) are appealing for public assistance in relation to the theft of the horses.
Earlier last month, the RCPT began investigating the theft that occurred sometime between Wednesday October 2 and Thursday October 3 2019.
The owners initially believed the horses had escaped their yards, however, the owners have since reported the suspected theft to police.
The horses were housed in secure stock yards; detectives believe the horses were moved from their yards as a direct result of human intervention.
The horses are of value and bred for cutting, which is a western-style equestrian competition.
It is unknown if the horses are still in the Macleay Valley or have been moved interstate.
One horse is a four-year-old mare, a painted chestnut and white arab and approximately 14-hands high.
The second horse is a two-and-a-half-year-old filly, a Grulla quarter horse, approximately 13-hands high.
Officers from the Rural Crime Prevention Team are appealing for public assistance to anyone who may have seen or heard any suspicious activity around Dondingalong Road between the intersections of Averys Lane and Wirrang Drive, between October 2 and 3 last year to come forward.
Detectives are particularly interested to speak to any livestock carriers in the area around this time.
Investigators are appealing for any witnesses that may have seen any suspicious behaviour or have any information about the whereabouts of the horses to contact Rural Crime Investigators at Kempsey Police Station on 6561 6199 or to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
