Kempsey Amcal+ Pharmacy wins second national award

The award pits all Amcal pharmacies in Australia against each other with around 240 stores in total.

To be eligible to win the national award, state success was required with Hollier and his team taking out that gong last year.

"We were very excited to get the news that we'd won the national award which we found out last Thursday," Hollier told the Argus.

"We found out last year that we'd won the state award which you need to win to be eligible for the national title which is between eight different pharmacies.

"We were overjoyed with the news and weren't expecting to win the state or national gong."

The award follows a very strict criteria and is not based on popularity with various factors taken into account when considering the successful store.

"It's not a popular vote, it's based on mystery shopping results, how we execute promotions in store and professional services like our flu vaccination program and how well we go in the visits from our rep," he said.

"We work hard and devote a number of time and resources to getting everything right on a daily basis.

"We also have a high focus on customers and making sure their experience here is as good as possible.

"We like to think of them as family and treat them as such."

With this being the second national win for Amcal+, Hollier likes to think it's certainly something the whole town can celebrate and be acknowledged for.

"Last year when we won everyone in Kempsey seemed to take pride in the victory and we hope that happens again," he explained.

"We had people who weren't even customers congratulate us and tell us how good it was for the town which is really good to see.

"I'm hoping this gives the town a bit of a boost because we definitely all need it at the moment."

As for next year, Hollier hopes his team can build something of a State of Origin dynasty but acknowledges that this award should be celebrated before thinking about future honours.

"We'll definitely try to get three in a row but I don't want to think anything less of this award and am very happy with this victory," he said.

"The awards night is a great event but unfortunately had to be cancelled this year and we haven't had a chance to celebrate but we'll certainly do that once the current situation has passed."
