MACLEAY Living Sustainably (MLS) in conjunction with school students across Kempsey are bringing the film 2040, by Damon Gameau, to Oddfellows Hall on Friday, November 29.

There will also be performances and the spoken word by students and guest speakers from across the valley.
The film, 2040, explores how we can heal the Earth by that year by using methods that Macleay Living Sustainably organiser Nona Harvey said are already working elsewhere in the world.
"2040 is a film demonstrating practical modifications that have already been done elsewhere and could be done here, which can both help heal the Earth and boost jobs in our own community," Dr Harvey said.
"If the recent bushfires have got you worried about the future we are facing, come along and hear about practical solutions at our fingertips - things we could be doing here, and now."
Damon Gameau, well known as an actor, established himself as a documentary maker with That Sugar Film, showing how what we eat and drink affects the body.
Then, as father of a four-year-old daughter, he turned his attention to the issues facing the Earth as a result of global warming, driven by his anxiety about the condition of the world she will inherit.
"In doing his research, Gameau realised that the story about climate change was also a story about community and the relationships between people. Instead of just asking the question, 'How do we reduce carbon', he looked at the solutions that have multiple cascading effects," Dr Harvey said.
"The point being is that climate change is about the whole environment; everything is connected."
Macleay Living Sustainably is working with local students from School Strike for Climate Change, to show the film in conjunction with the global Climate Action Day.
2040 will screen at the Oddfellows' Hall, 22 Kemp St, Kempsey on Friday, November 29. Doors open at 6pm and close at 9pm. Refreshments available for a gold coin donation.
