Hometown lad Sam Davies' "dream came true" when he stole the show at the Akubra Classic last Sunday.

The Macleay District Motorcycle Club junior bested fellow local and two-time champion Jarryd Oram, who finished in second position, and third place finisher Tom Donnelly.
Davies admitted he was forced to hold back tears when he crossed the finish line and claimed the title he had fantasied about winning for more than 10 years.
"I was so stoked, I was holding back tears, fist bumping and just so hyped up," Davies told the Argus.
"I have wanted to win this ever since I started racing and realised what the Akubra Classic meant to this town.
"It was a dream of mine to win this event and now that dream came true.
"I have said to everyone this beats winning a state or Australian title."
The 20-year-old produced one of the best races of his life in the final.
"I got the hole shot out of the gate and was leading from the first corner until the end," Davies said.
"It was a trouble free run."
Davies admits his task was made easier when rival James Chapman, who was in second position at the time, crashed out in the final.
Davies expressed gratitude to his sponsors Chris Watson's Motorsports, Pryce Engines, Dales Suspension, Daryl Mallam, the club for putting on a great day and to his parents for all of their support.
Macleay District Motorcycle Club president Trent O'Donnell claimed Davies was a deserved winner.
"Sam has raced with the club since he was a kid, he's a pretty deserved winner," O'Donnell said.
"He didn't put a foot wrong all day."
Davies was also the winner of the newly introduced TT Flat Track racing.
Meanwhile Kempsey's James Chapman won the Pro 450 and 250 Open divisions.
In the junior Akubra Classic, local Mackenzie Booth finished first ahead of fellow Kempsey boy Tyler O'Donnell and Tyler Billing rounded out the places.
"The day was brilliant and everything ran smoothly," O'Donnell said.
"The crowd was the biggest it has been in the last four years.
"The new TT event was a huge success, the competitors enjoyed it and everyone in the crowd had great feedback for it too."
The final round of the Macleay District Motorcycle Club's grass track is this Sunday November 10.
