Earlier this month, the cyclists peddled 535km through the picturesque New England North West region to raise vital funds for families with seriously sick and injured children.
Starting at Inverell on Tuesday, September 10, the steadfast group travelled through Armidale, Tamworth, Scone and Singleton, stopping to meet with residents and school children. The tired cyclists crossed the finish line at John Hunter Children's Hospital in Newcastle on Saturday, September 14.
The fundraising figure is expected to rise following the completion of the Ride for Sick Kids NNSW Community Ride at the end of the month. Since the inaugural bike ride across Northern NSW in 2005, more than 8,000 kilometres have been travelled, raising vital funds for Ronald McDonald House Charities.
Ronald McDonald Houses provide a 'home away from home' for families, allowing them to stay close to their sick or injured child while they receive treatment in nearby hospitals. Last year, RMHC NNSW provided more than 7,750 nights of accommodation to over 770 families from regional areas.
RHMC Northern NSW would like to say a big thank you to the local community for their support and donations.
