The Seabreeze Fishing Club's most recent competition was held on the weekend of August 31 and September 1. There were 80 entrants and a total of 86kg was weighed in.

Conditions were pretty good, for a weekend's fishing, with moderate winds and the bars in Trial Bay being very approachable although, the southerly swell gave the rock hoppers something to think about.
Although there were no record-breaking specimens weighed in there was plenty of variety in species with all sections of the competition being accounted for to varied degrees as the results indicate:
Beach, Rock and Estuary - Bream - senior - Rob Gordon, 735gm; lady - Ethel Rowsell, 685gm; "tenunda" junior - Finn McLean, 495gm.
Luderick - senior - Ben Guest, 580gm; lady - Margaret Wright, 305gm.
Tailor - senior - Col Barber, 1.020kg.
Mulloway - senior - Damien Ashley, 9.230kg.
Whiting - "tenunda" junior - Andie Ryan, 185gm.
Angler of the Month with five species was Damien Ashley and Junior Angler of the Month was Finn McLean with one specie.
Outside - Pearl Perch - senior - Ian (Krazy Kat) Reid, 2.150 kg; lady - Crystal Bird, 2.025 kg; junior - Daniel Lewis, 945 gm.
Snapper - senior - Greg Allen, 1.585 kg; lady - Crystal Bird, 430 gm.
Venus Tusk Fish - senior - Ian (Krazy Kat) Reid, 1.390 kg; lady - Heather Osborne 600 gm. Teraglin - senior - Col Barber, 1.590kg.
Angler of the Month with five species was Col Barber and Junior Angler of the Month was Daniel Lewis with one specie.
Besides organising events for Club members one of the primary objectives of the Club is to raise funds that can be "re-cycled" back into the local community. Over the years many worthy individuals and organisations have been assisted financially by the Club.
The club raises funds by conducting raffles at the Seabreeze Beach Hotel. The raffles are held on Wednesday evenings from 6pm and Saturdays from noon. This month the club presented a total of $1,500 to worthy causes, being, $500 to the South West Rocks Public School P & C towards a school fete fundraiser; $500 to Neville Dummett riding in the Great Cycle Challenge raising funds for Children's' Medical Research and $500 to Joy Ashley who is raising funds for research into a cure for Motor Neurone Disease.

As the year rolls by, with the passing of a winter that wasn't it will be into a summer of nor- easters and a taste of it with our next competition which will be on the weekend of October 5 and 6.
