A tree fell on power lines about one kilometre west on Crescent Head Rd.
The tree was blown over due to the strong winds. It severed two high voltage wires was being held up by one low voltage wire.
Essential Energy and two Rural Fire Service (RFS) trucks attended the scene.
The road was closed to traffic for a number of hours but has since reopened.
The incident also sparked a small fire and RFS crews controlled the blaze.
Meanwhile the RFS are currently controlling a number of fires in the area. All fire permits have also been suspended due to the high fire danger.
The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a strong wind warning for areas of the Mid North Coast and other parts of the State for today.
Kempsey is experiencing wind gusts of up to 60kph.
