The library was a full house, with around 70 people coming to listen to a panel of eight authors from across the Mid North Coast.
Authors Fiona McArthur, Jaye Ford, Annie Seaton, Tamara McWilliam, Roby Aiken, Kaneana May, Karly Lane and Desley Polmear gave locals an insight into their writing process and talked about their latest and upcoming novels.
"It's a chance for local authors to get together and share our knowledge of writing and publishing books," Kempsey author Fiona McArthur said.
"This is the second year we've had this event at Kempsey Library, and it's just grown in popularity.
"Having a mix of authors that are self published, traditionally published and a hybrid of both opens up pathways for any locals who are interested in writing."
The authors spoke of their journey of writing, their experiences, their latest and upcoming books and answered questions from the audience.
"Kempsey is a very supportive town. It's great to have an event like this where I can give back to the library that really supported me when I first started writing," Fiona said.
Marketing and Seniors' Librarian at Kempsey Shire Library Mary Williams said the event is a highlight for the library.
"There's such a high caliber of talent here today that people don't always get the chance to go and see," she said.
"We've had a really great response from the community towards this event. It's something we really want to continue in the future."
The library also put on a Christmas in July inspired morning tea for locals who attended the panel discussion.
"The event gives authors a chance to give back to the community and talk about what they do."
The event was free, with gold coin donations being accepted. All of the donations will go to the Kempsey Hospital Maternity Ward.
