The film was selected for the inaugural Central States International Fan Film Festival (CSIFFF) in Rock Island, Illinois.
This is the fourth film festival in the United States that has selected the Dockrills' film, three of which have awarded the film in various categories.
The Island of Doctor Moron has been selected, nominated and awarded by 15 international film festivals from 10 countries in the past 18 months.
The film received four nominations at the CSIFFF including Best Feature, Best Soundtrack, Best Trailer and Best Poster and took out the Best Soundtrack award.
"It's the music that drives our film and the live show," writer and director Chris Dockrill said.
"Lyn is the creative force with the music. I write the lyrics and the script, so we are a good creative team," he added.
The festival attracted significant attention. There were 241 total submissions from 25 countries and only 65 films were selected for screening.
"It was wonderful to see an Australian film up there competing at such an international level," Lyn Dockrill said.
"We are thrilled that our film was one of the chosen few," Chris said.
"It is very difficult to get through that initial cull, so we are, once again, reassured that our film and the show have a unique appeal."
CSIFFF Festival Director, Mike Rechtien, said the film is a unique story with incredible energy.
"Doctor Moron? There is nothing like it on the festival circuit. Its energy is highly contagious. The Dockrill's have tapped into a market that I hope we see grow in the coming months and years," he said.
The Dockrills aim to raise investment capital to fund the live production of The Island of Doctor Moron either in the USA or the UK.
"Everyone who sees the film says that they can't wait to see the live show," Lyn said.
"It is such a thrill to see audiences of all ages from so many different countries being swept along by the power and fun of our show."
