Rangers coach Emma Tamblyn said the scoreline isn't a true indicator of how tough the contest was but was pleased with her side's ability to make the most of their opportunities.
"It was a tough game, they were the hardest side we have played this year but we were able to take our chances and defend really well," Tamblyn told the Argus.
Serenity Clancy completed a hat-trick while Alice Morn also added her name to the scorer's sheet.
"All of the goals were fairly similar. It was a team effort as we knocked the ball around before we were able to slip a pass in behind and Serenity and Alice scored," Tamblyn said.
While Tamblyn was impressed with the side's composure in attack, she also credited the defence and goalkeeper Ashley Llewellyn with superb games as they held United scoreless.
"They threatened us a bit but our defence was solid and Ashley made some great saves," Tamblyn said.
The victory gives the Rangers a five point cushion on top as they approach the halfway point of the season.
Tamblyn wants her side to avoid complacency as she points out the opposition teams will continue to improve.
"We have been playing really well, there's a couple of games where we have fallen off but generally we have been great," she said.
"This Saturday is only our second home game but we now have five in a row so we need to continue our momentum and aim for the minor premiership.
"Every team is different in the second half of the season so we need to keep improving and focus on each game as it comes."
The Rangers host the Camden Haven Redbacks at Optus Park, formerly Dangar St, this Saturday at 1pm.
