Organiser of the event Dr Phani Prakhya is participating in the Stars of Macleay Valley Dance for Cancer on Saturday, with the Indian night being his last fundraising event before the big performance.
"It was a magical night with about 125 people who were entertained with 10 traditional performances and home-made three-course Indian vegetarian food," Dr Prakhya said.
"I had a target to raise about $3000 and I'm pretty proud of myself to raise more than double that amount."
Entertainment on the night was a traditional performance by internationally renowned Kathak dancer Varsha Godbole.
"At the end of the event, all interested guests were invited on stage to learn some Bollywood dancing and it was a great joy to see them get involved."
Phani and his wife Navya would like to thank the catering volunteers, performers and everyone who helped organise the event and donated their time to make the event a success.
"We're also very grateful to all our guests on the night who donated money for a very good cause."
$5124 was raised on the night for the Cancer Council, bringing Phani's total amount raised to $7099.
