While representing his new club Newport, Finn Askew picked up a haul of six medals at the NSW Surf Life Saving Championships held at Swansea a fortnight ago.

The South West Rocks resident also earned his first water sport state medal as Finn took home the bronze in the Under-17 Iron Man, which consists of a 500m swim and 600m board.
Finn teamed up with members from the Newport Surf Life Saving Club and earned a gold in the ski, silver in swim teams and board relay and bronze in the board rescue and taplin relay events.
Finn also narrowly missed out on medals in the swim and ski race, finishing in fourth position.
"I was super stoked to get that first water sport state medal in the Iron Man, it's a huge accomplishment," Finn said.
"There was nothing in the swim and ski race, there was four of us who came out of the water at the same time and it was just the sprint up the beach that let me down."
Finn is hopeful of claiming a medal at the Australian Surf Life Saving Championships held over five days starting next Friday March 29.
The 17-year-old continues to focus on his training under Tony Hudson at Kempsey Swimming Pool and his diet.
"I train with him six days a week and he's crazy tough on me but it's good, he pushes me to my limit and gets the best out of me," Finn said.
The St Paul's College student is hopeful the hardwork will be rewarded at the Aussies.
"I would really love to medal in the Iron Man and swim, but there are so many good athletes at the carnival and it is going to be really hard to achieve," he said.
"But I believe in myself and I am just going to put my best foot forward and give it everything."
Finn will compete in individual and team events, with Newport, at the Australian titles.
Finn was recently approached to join the prestigious Sydney club and is included in their elite training squad.
