Kinchela Public School students and staff participated in Clean Up Australia Day on Friday March 1 as they travelled to Hat Head reserve to do their part for the environment.

Students worked in small groups and each targeted a specific area.
In under 45-minutes, the school managed to collect and remove a whopping 14 bags of rubbish.
As the students have been learning about sustainability, the students were shocked and saddened by the amount of rubbish collected and vowed to be rubbish warriors for now on.
As part of the sustainability lessons, the students have been learning ways to use rubbish to create artwork.
The school are going to be creating sculptures from rubbish to be displayed at the school.
The students have collaborated and voted on what the creations will be and the school will use some of the items collected from the clean up at Hat Head.
