How is it that politicians are able to do the bidding of powerful fossil fuel interests while ignoring the long term good of the people they are supposed to represent . The energy companies and governments know about the dangers associated with their products, while lobbying against capping emissions and sowing doubt about climate change.

A recent game changing legal decision in the NSW Land and Environment Court rejected the Rocky Hill coal mine near Gloucester, on social and climate change grounds. This is the first time in Australian legal history that a court has considered the global carbon budget, climate impacts and the Paris climate targets.
There are currently significant lawsuits around the world asking courts to order actions by governments or the fossil fuel industry in response to climate change. The days of being complacent about climate change are now over.
