Tommaya was recently named as a debutant in the 18-women squad for the Indigenous All Stars, who will face off with the New Zealand Maori team on February 15 at AAMI Park in Melbourne.
Tommaya is very excited to be a part of the Indigenous Women’s All Stars team.
“I’m very privileged to have this opportunity to not only represent my culture but also my family who will make the trip to watch me play,” she said.
Tommaya started playing rugby league in 2017 at Glenmore Park Brumbies under coach Paul Bent.
In 2018, Tommaya played for the Mounties, who are a feeder club to the Canberra Raiders.
The decision to transfer to the Mounties proved to be a successful one, as Tommaya played a strong role in her side reaching the grand final of the Harvey Norman Women’s competition.
The Mounties went on to claim the premiership as they defeated minor premiers the South Sydney Rabbitohs, which featured Kempsey born and Jillaroos star Nakia Davis-Welsh, 12-10 in a nail-biting game.
Tommaya was also recognised by her teammates for her hard work by receiving the Mounties 2018 Women’s Player’s Player trophy.
To add to a great season, Tommaya was invited to attend the NRL women’s camp in November 2018.
