Nulla were starring down the barrel of consecutive losses in the Premier League Twenty20 competition on Saturday but they then produced their best bowling performance of the season to restrict the Port City Leagues Magpies to 93 as the two teams played out a draw.

In Nulla’s first match against Macquarie, they reached 130 runs with Chris White top scoring with 57. Macquarie surpassed Nulla’s total in the 17th over with the loss of five wickets.
“Some sloppy bowling and fielding really hurt us and made it easier for them than it should have been,” Nulla captain Ben Taylor said.
Nulla struggled with the bat in their second match as Magpies’ Brendan Badenoch took a double hat-trick, which is four wickets in four balls, and eventually Nulla were dismissed for 93 runs.
“Sam Cole made a swashbuckling 23 and a 30-run last wicket stand with myself and Dan Marrosion gave us something to bowl at,” Taylor said.
“We followed that up with a really spirited performance in the field and with the ball.”
Taylor was impressed with the efforts with the ball and in the field as his side could have easily conceded victory wasn’t possible as they were defending a low score.
“Everyone bowled really well and it was more of a performance like last season, so good signs there,” Taylor said.
Pete Morris, Dan Morrison and Ben Taylor combined to pick up five wickets.
“Not letting them get past 93 runs in 20 overs was well done by my boys,” Taylor said.
Macquarie and Wingham, who both finished their pool games undefeated, will contest the Twenty20 grand final this Saturday.
