The Kempsey-Crescent Head Surf Boat crews will return to the water at Old Bar this Saturday for round six of the North Coast Surf Boat series.

Kempsey-Crescent Head will take all of their crews for the trip south and surf boat captain Scott Edwards said the members are excited to get back into the competition.
“We have had a longer break than usual with people away and the strong winds also prevented us from launching at the beach, so we are all pretty keen to get out there,” Edwards said.
“This weekend is about getting back into the swing of things and really starting to build some momentum for the rest of the season.”
Kempsey-Crescent Head currently sitting in first position in the North Coast Surf Boat Series (NCSBS) and are expected to take out the overall championship crowd.
Meanwhile, the local club is in first position in the Whale Cup, Open Men, Open Women and Masters 160s.
While the crews will be looking to further improve their position in the NCSBS, Edwards claims the focus will quickly turn to the major events.
“We have crews competing at the Australian Surf Rowers League, state and Australian titles and we really want to do well this year,” Edwards said.
“I believe we can challenge for the finals in our masters, women’s and reserve crew while the juniors can also build on what they achieved last year.”
The Australian Surf Rowers League is held on February 16 and 17 and Edwards said the event tracks similar competitors to those who attend the Australian titles, which will give the crews a good indicator of where they are at.
The NSW titles will be held at Swansea-Belmont on the Central Coast from March 8 to 10 while the Australian titles are held in the first week of April on the Gold Coast.
