The Kempsey Lady golfers have wound up for the 2018 season, but not without their usual pomp and ceremony. Our annual presentation luncheon was held last week, with guest appearances from Kerri-Ann Kennerley (looking suspiciously like Robin Taylor) and a spirited Steve Irwin (showing a little water damage and resembling Ali Mavin). The celebrities gave us an intriguing tour of the golf course, pointing out all the dangerous creatures to be aware of while enjoying the game.

Pam Bruce was crowned the Golden Golfer for the 2018 season, having the lowest aggregate of the best 10 nett rounds. Pam also claimed the Champion gross for Division one, the Club Gold Medal gross, the Brose and Black trophy and most birdies, just to name a few. Congratulations Pam on another wonderful season. Nell Campling, our club captain, was always biting at the heels or our Golden Golfer, finishing only three points behind Pam for the honour of Golden Golfer. Nell claimed Champion nett player in Division one, runner-up for Champion gross in Division one, and runner-up for the Club Gold Medal. Cassie Black was in the winners circle for the WGNSW medal, and also teamed with Ariane Brose to be runner-up in the 27 hole Foursome event. Jennie Preston was the Morag’s House and Garden winner, and Robin Taylor won the Putting.
Nancy McNamara dominated Division two, claiming Champion gross, Champion nett and the WGNSW medal. Jill Stringer was always a contender, and was the runner-up Champion gross Division two with Noelene Sheridan, and runner-up for putting. Noelene Sheridan won the putting, while Kerry Cashman played consistently throughout the year, and was a clear winner in the Nell’s 2BBB rounds.
Polly Ransfield continued to improve during the season, lost some handicap points, and was crowned Champion nett in Division three. Polly also won the WGNSW medal, and was runner-up Champion gross behind Wendy Rogan. Alison Mavin teamed with Noeline Sheridan to win the Foursomes nett award, and was runner-up for Champion nett player.
The ladies are all looking forward to the 2019 season, and are hopeful that we will see some new members joining us enjoying the game on Wednesdays.
