Kempsey Shire Council general manager Craig Milburn has released a statement regarding claims that a councillor, Anthony Patterson, and his company Patterson Glass were working under a conflict of interest on the Kempsey Cinema project.

Councillor Patterson has advised the general manager that he was contacted by the head contractor recently regarding a one-off request to carry out work within the Kempsey Central building.
“The work carried out was a glass removal task lasting no more than half a day. Patterson Glass was the only local contractor equipped and available on request to remove glass from the existing building,” Mr Milburn said.
“Patterson Glass was not paid by council for this task.”
The claims were raised during the Ray Hadley Morning Show today.
Mr Milburn said councillor Patterson has advised council his company will not be applying for the tender for the facility.
“The decisions of council to approve and progress the cinema project have already been made and therefore there is no conflict of interest present with councillor Patterson working on the existing facility,” Mr Milburn said.
“Councillor Patterson has provided documentation around the nature of his business and the work he does, predominantly in the residential sector. To my knowledge the contract for glass in the new cinema facility is still out for tender and councillor Patterson has advised his company will not be tendering.”
