Wauchope RSL posted a total of 214 runs from their 40 overs and restricted Nulla to 114 before they were dismissed in the 31st over.
Nulla’s batsmen were dropping like flies and were never in with a chase of a successful run chase, despite the best efforts from stand-in captain Dan Baker, who top scored for the side with 47 runs and grabbed four wickets with the ball.
Daniel Pretty was the only other Nulla batsmen to reach double figures, as he finished unbeaten on 18.
“Overall we were just beaten by a better side, we bowled well as a team without much luck,” Nulla bowler Dan Morrison said.
“Dan Baker bowled well once again and got four well deserved wickets.
“Our other standout bowler from Saturday was Mark Smee who bowled consistently good lines and chipped in with two wickets.
“Unfortunately, our batting wasn’t up to our usual standards.”
Morrison credited Wauchope’s bowlers for Nulla’s batting woes.
“Their opener Matt Miller bowled really well and our top order batsmen struggled to score runs against him,” Morrison said.
“Dan Baker was our standout batsmen and scored well under pressure when the team needed it.
“But losing a few quick wickets at the start of the innings put us on the back foot early and Wauchope were able to maintain the pressure.”
Nulla will have a chance to bounce back when they host United in South Kempsey this Saturday.
