Racing will commence at the Chain o Ponds road venue at 9.30am.
“We knew people wanted the grass track events to return and people were looking for a more relaxed style of competition in comparison to the speed of the Dirt Track competitions,” Macleay District Motorcycle Club president Trent O’Donnell said.
“This venue will provide a happy medium for the riders.
“We have worked hard for 12 months to get the new venue approved by Council, Motorcycle NSW and the Office of Sport and recreation.”
More than 120 riders have entered.
“We will see racing from 50cc Demonstration right through to A grade and of course the over 35’s class, where we will see a few riders who can relive the memories of the event from 20 years ago,” O’Donnell said.
“There has been a fair bit of baneter going on between these old guys, so it will be interesting to see how this correlates with the performance on the track on Sunday.”
Gates will open from 7am with racing from 9.30. Spectators are welcome, Full canteen will be available for food and drinks etc.
The Macleay District Motorcycle Club held their AGM on November 14 at the Kempsey Macleay RSL Club and the committee remains largely unchanged but they do welcome two new members onto the committee.
The club committee is now comprised of Trent O’Donnell, Michael Booth, Ben O’Donnell, Damien and Karlie Clegg, David Haywood, Andrew Trappel and Jonathan Wright.
“Although it would have been nice to see more of our members attend the AGM it is great to see a mix of stability and new faces on our committee for 2019,” O’Donnell said.
“Anyone who was involved with our club this year has seen the progress we have made and I’m 100 per cent positive that 2019 is going to be an even bigger year for the club, our members, Macleay community and local economy with two Open Dirt track Meetings, The Akubra Classic, the 2019 NSW Senior Dirt Track Championships at the Greenhill speedway and the first full five round Grass track Motocross serries held in the Macleay valley in over 20 years at the clubs new venue The Ponds.”
