Brothers Ian and Ced Rudd's 4-under par round on Tuesday last clinched them the coveted Kempsey Veterans Golf Club 2018 Foursomes Championship.

Once again staged over the entire 18-hole course that did show some effect of the most recent, but welcomed showery rain, the Rudds - both on single-figure handicaps in normal 14-hole competitions – signed off for a 76 gross.
With some of the greens still recovering from their annual treatment - including coring and the like - the brothers' performance was really something right out of the ordinary.
They were champions alright, by eight strokes from their closest rivals, who just happened to be the defending titleholders, Terry Hyland and Chris Hudson.
Ironically, the 2017 champions were again to the fore and will have their names engraved on the handsome Foursomes Nett Championships trophy this occasion.
The Hyland-Hudson duo were best of the 23-teams field, their 88 off-the-stick (so to speak) reduced to a 5-under 67 nett, which was two and a half strokes better than that of the Brothers Rudd.
Must say that the defending nett champions, Doug Magennis and Bob Garner, finished fourth this year on 71 nett.
Yes, there is always the unlucky ones (so to speak) and we must spare a thought for Terry Smith and Dennis O'Brien, whose 68 nett was just the one short of amazing glory (so to speak).
Just a new Srixon for them and the same prize for Dwaine Button/Mitch Morris (71.50), and Col Young/Greg Mayhew, John Terlich/Bill Paterson, Steve Bates/Graham Schasser and Michael Hinchcliffe/Peter Campling (all 73).
"How did you play today," I thought was a logical ask to a mate who was actually a champion 12 months ago. "If you putted with a driver you had no trouble," was his answer.
Say no more, eh!
President Alan (Macdonald) was back on the dais for his usual address which began with happy birthdays to John Terlich and Barry Booth and then twigging onto the fact that Terry's raffle had not balanced.
Captain Robert (Dykes) continued on with the awards presentation and there was an apparent approval from all but a few members when he announced that today's event was to be a single stableford.
And only over 14 holes, too!
Naturally all visitors will be made welcome to take part, so just turn up or give our official starter, Brody (Clarke) a call on 65626291. Tee-off is 9.30am.
