Speaking from experience, the art council’s Steve MacDonald said with Julie Croft on keyboards weaving music like a madcap sorceress of sound, Baching Mad (pronounced as in “barking” dog), will deliver a musical extravaganza to be marveled.
“You’ll be swept up in the passion of this majestic music,” Steve said.
He said the music is best described as funk/classical/jazz all in one.
Julie’s colourful past spins classical piano recitals, keyboards in blues and contemporary ensembles.
Accompanying Julie is Abe Mac on drums, who is the other energetic member of the duo.
“Abe has played locally for many years and together, the two will launch you into an exciting musical pathway which will keep you in orbit for the evening and beyond."
The Baching Mad experience presents captivating originals, which embrace new ideas, textures, rhythms ande colours within a genre-defying collage.
“Just when the groove is solid, the music may move seamlessly into other worlds; sometimes classical over funky rhythms,” Steve said.
With influences traversing more than two centuries, it weaves its way through funky laid-back grooves and bluesy blends to explosions of virtuosic briliance.
“It will be a night and a half.”
The duo will be enriched by Armidale guest artist James Croft on ‘Baching Mad’ trumpet and flugelhorn.
SHOW DETAILS: One night only at Oddfellows Hall, Kempsey on Saturday, November 10 starting 7pm. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased from the Macleay Valley Arts Council website.
