Despite high expectations for heavy rainfall last week, the weekend in Kempsey only saw 7.8mm of rain on Saturday and 8mm on Sunday according to Weatherzone.

Today has already seen 18mm fall, and showers are expected to continue for the next few days with a 90 per cent chance of 5-10mm on Tuesday and an 80 per cent chance of 1-5mm on Wednesday.
Later this week it is expected to dry out a bit with only a 60 per cent chance of 1-5mm on Thursday and less than 1mm predicted for Friday.
In comparison, our neighbours to the north got drenched, Nambucca Heads saw 19mm on Saturday and 8.2mm on Sunday.
Coffs Harbour was similarly soaked and saw 14.4mm on Saturday and 34mm on Sunday.
With a large part of Australia still hurting from the drought, any rain is a welcome sight in the Macleay Valley.
