The call was received at 11.37am and the caravan was fully involved with fire when firefighters arrived on scene.
The blaze destroyed the caravan and was encroaching on the four-wheel drive before it was extinguished.
The fire spread to nearby grassland which resulted in a large grass fire along the highway.
Fire and Rescue crews extinguished the caravan fire while Rural Fire Service crews attended to the grass fire which was extinguished quickly.
Police also attended the scene and carried out traffic control.
The Pacific Highway northbound lanes were closed for a short period while the fires were being extinguished and traffic was diverted at Macleay Valley Way.
While attending the caravan fire, Kempsey Fire and Rescue received two additional calls to two separate grass fires at West Street and another at Gowings Hill Road.
To assist with these fires, a move up of a truck from Port Macquarie was issued as well as two tankers from Macksville and Wauchope.
One property was under threat at the Gowings Hill Road fire and after property protection was undertaken by Fire and Rescue, it was handed over to the Rural Fire Service crews.
The three incidents have been handed over to the police for investigation.
