Kempsey local and Charles Sturt University student, Macky Lawrence, is one of two students studying a Bachelor of Agriculture Science chosen to participate in an internship program within the McDonald’s supply chain.

This is the first year the internship has been offered and is a partnership between McDonald’s and Charles Sturt University. It will see the students paid $15,000 while they undertake the 12-week placement where they will spend time with producers, processors and at the McDonald’s head office.
Macky has completed half of his placement so far by visiting McDonald’s beef suppliers and processors.
“It was really great to see how it’s all run and to see how large suppliers process their livestock,” he said.
“Being able to see the supply chain of McDonald’s products, because it is such a large company, has been really good and has taught me a lot.”
The second half of the internship will see Macky travel from Wagga Wagga to Sydney where he will experience the business side of the McDonald’s chain at the head office.
“I’ll be heading to Sydney to learn about the business side of McDonald’s next and seeing how it all works on that end.”
Macky will complete the internship before the end of the year.
“It’s been such a great opportunity, anyone who gets the chance should do it,” he said.
