Ms Dufty has worked for three owners of the petrol station and has trained a large number of staff over the years that she has worked there.
Looking back on her time at Caltex, Ms Dufty said the experience has been wonderful.
“I’ve made a lot of friends throughout the years, but it has been a challenge sometimes as well,” she said.
“I’ll definitely miss the chats with customers and will miss working with the amazing staff.”
Manager of South Kempsey Caltex Rod Brewer and Owner Gordon Batt praised Karen for her work.
“Her support has been outstanding, she’s very loved by the customers and the staff,” they said.
Caltex has presented Ms Dufty with a plaque for outstanding service and the staff from South Kempsey Caltex surprised her with a trip to the Hunter Valley as well as flowers, a cake and a book filled with kind comments from customers.
“I wish Caltex all the best, but I’m not going anywhere, I’ll still be around,” Ms Dufty said.
“The friendships I’ve built over the years won’t go away.”
