The Macleay Valley Mustangs won’t have a side compete on Group Three Rugyby League grand final day after their final hope, the Under-18.5s, suffered a 32-0 loss at the hands of the Old Bar Pirates last weekend.

The Mustangs went into the contest with high hopes of causing an upset after bouncing back to form in a 28-20 victory over the Forster-Tuncurry Hawks.
However, the obstacle proved too tough for the young Mustangs as they were blown off the park in convincing fashion.
The preliminary final defeat ended the season for the Mustangs Under-18.5s, who finished in third place at the end of the regular season.
The Old Bar Pirates will face off with the Port Macquarie Sharks in this Sunday’s grand final.
It was a difficult season for the Mustangs club as they were forced to withdraw from the reserve and first grade competitions premature to the season concluding.
The Ladies league Tag missed out on qualification for the finals series.
