Mr Hartsuyker also singled out Samantha Hughes for her role in Kempsey Stock and Land becoming a donation point for the Doing It For Our Farmers charity drive, while Kempsey Showgirls Emma Mitchell, Issy Sutherland and Elizabeth Jackson were praised in parliament for organising the fundraiser at the recent annual bull sale.
Tim Smith and his staff at the West Kempsey hotel were thanked for organising a fund raising trivia night.
“This is a great community effort,” Mr Hartsuyker told parliament.
“People are doing what they can to help our farmers. But it’s more than just the money.
“I know the farmers of the Upper Hunter appreciate the support and the hay being delivered to them, but to know that people in the community over the mountains are thinking about them in their time of great need is of great benefit to them indeed.
“Well done, Kempsey and Macleay, for a huge effort.”
All of New South Wales is now in drought.
