The Macleay Valley Eagles and teams from Port Macquarie also went down to Sydney and played during the intermission.
The kids are aged between five and nine.
The Dockers face off with the Macleay Valley Eagles this Sunday at the South West Rocks Sporting Fields.
South West Rocks’ players will wear rainbow laces in Sunday’s match to support Zaidee’s Rainbow Foundation, which aims to raise awareness of organ and tissue donation.
The round is named in honour of Zaidee Turner who was just 7 years old when she died in 2004 from a Cerebral Aneurism. Zaidee donated her organs and tissues which resulted in the lives of seven other people being improved or saved. Zaidee was the only child in Victoria under the age of 16 years to donate her organs and tissues in 2004.
Currently, there are more than 1,400 people on the national transplant waiting list in Australia. More than 50 of those waiting are children. Zaidee’s Rainbow Foundation exists to give children and adults of all ages a second chance in life by helping to inspire discussion about organ and tissue donation.
It is hoped that the wearing of the rainbow laces will inspire families across the region to have a conversation about organ and tissue donation.
