The Kempsey Cannonballs may have suffered a defeat on the field, but the side clearly won off it as they acknowledged the ladies involved in their club and raised more than $1500 for Early Connections Kempsey.

The Cannonballs held raffles and wore a special jersey which were sold to players and fans after the match. The total amount raised will be finalised in the coming days.
The annual Cannonballs Ladies Day was a huge success, with family and friends attending on gameday to celebrate.
On the field, the Cannonballs exchanged early blows with the Coffs Harbour Snappers but unfortunately succumbed to their opposition in a 52-27 loss.
The Cannonballs were the first to open the scoring and Carl Thurgood and Braden Farrawell crossed for first half tries while Heath Lancaster added points with a penalty goal.
Braydon Davis and Kini Dauvucu crossed for tries in the second half but the Cannonballs’ defence let them down as the Snappers ran riot late in the contest.
Tyler Allan was voted as the Cannonballs’ best and fairest while Dauvucu was acknowledged by coach Thurgood.
The scoreboard went back and forth for the first half, coffs held the lead for the majority of the game but we were never out of it until late in the second half when they scored a few late tries to run away it,” Thurgood said.
The Cannonballs face the Wauchope Thunder on the road in their final game of the regular season.
The side has missed out on playing in the finals series this season while the reserve grade side holds onto hope.
