It’s a crucial game for the Saints’ finals aspirations as dropping points against the cellar dwellers could prove costly as teams enter the second half of the Football Mid North Coast Premier League competition.
Saints hold onto fourth spot on the competition ladder at the halfway point.
They are equal competition points with the Taree Wildcats but are ahead on goal difference.
A victory for Saints has the potential to lift them to six competition points clear from the sixth placed Camden Haven Redbacks.
The top five play finals at the end of the season.
Meanwhile the match is just as important for Wauchope, who are looking to avoid relegation at the end of the season as the competition turns into an eight-team format.
Saints were on the frontfoot for the entire match but weren’t able to land the killer blows until the second half.
Liam King and Jamie Wright were the goalscorers for Saints.
In reserve grade, Saints, the defending champions, sit in fifth position on the ladder and face Wauchope, who hold onto third spot.
Saints defeated Wauchope 11-0 in reserve grade when they met earlier in the season.
