The visit by the NSW Governor was to tour the facility and gain an insight into Benelong’s Haven’s operations, and to thank Benelong’s Haven and the current board for keeping this excellent and vital community service operating. It was founded in 1974 by the visionary Dr Valerie Bryant-Carrol OAM (a sister of the one of the existing board members).
Benelong’s Haven is a rehabilitation facility where the philosophy of care is hat the program treats all forms of addiction. Clients are involved in many programs in the areas of well-being, relationships, health, addiction cure, leisure and gaining skills for employment. These are all provided by a combination of skilled and dedicated staff and numerous external partner organisations.
Benelong’s Haven has 20 employees, and is something of a landmark on the way to South West Rocks.
