Macleay Valley Martial Arts (MVMA) head coach Glenn Stewart told the Macleay Argus that Alana, who trains locally, won four gold medals in the 71kg and Open Weight divisions, as well as 71kg and Open Weight 'No Gi' (submission wrestling) divisions.
“These victories saw Alana establish a solid lead in the national tally,” Stewart said.
“Her gold medal haul also increased her standing to tied 2nd place nationally in the rankings.”
Following the wins, Alana also took out first place in the Queensland Submission Championships.
“Featuring a submission oriented no time limit format Alana produced some awesome results,” Stewart said.
“Winning the event by clean sweep she walked away with the gold, a winner’s cheque and prizes supplied by various sponsors.
”She plans on continuing her winning streak with sights set on the Brisbane Open in late May and with an eye on potential competition in the Pan Pacific Championships in late 2015.
”Given the cost and effort associated with these events sponsorship is being sort to provide Alana with the best opportunity to represent the Macleay at future events.”
